PhD student in the AI field
This is the personal GitHub Pages site of Andy Chan(Andi Chen/陈岸荻). I had spent my high school years at XiangYang No.5 high school, where I was awarded with the third prize of the Chinese Mathematical Olympiad Contest. In terms of my bachelor period, I had graduated from the joint program of Dalian University of Technology(world ranking top 300th) and University of Leicester(world ranking top 200th) majoring chemical information science. My compulsory curriculum incorporated advanced calculus, advanced linear algebra, probability and statistics, mathematical analysis, Python, C++, Java. In addition, I also took courses incorporating deep learning, functional analysis, complex function, data structure and algorithms as my elective courses.
Furthermore, I have been selected successfully for the graduate program in Cognitive and Artificial Intelligence at Kuang Yaming Honor School of Nanjing University(world ranking top 100th) through the recommendation system of Chinese Ministry of Education. During that time, I was dedicated to the methodology of hybrid feedforward neural network architecture design for image processing under the supervision of Prof. Zeng-Bing Chen and Prof. Shengjun Wu. Then, I acted as a research assistant on School of AI of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Innovation Institute centering on the design of frameworks of large language models under the supervision of Prof. Junchi-Yan .
Nowadays, I'm pursuing my PhD in Shanghai Qizhi Institute and the college of AI, Tsinghua University(world ranking top 30th) led by the distinguished professor Andrew Chi-Chih Yao. I do feel pleased and honored to work with the prominent supervisor, Prof. Alex Lamb, whose supervisor is the 2018 Turing Award Winner, Yoshua Bengio . I am also affiliated to Tongji University(world ranking top 150th) with Prof. Qi Zhang at College of Computer Science as secondary supervisor. Meanwhile, I also have collaborations with Prof. Shoujin Wang at College of Computer Science, University of Technology Sydney. I am also the reviewer of the top journals and conferences TNNLS, Pattern Recognition, Neural Networks, AAAI, etc.
My life attitude:
Do anything you wanna try
Go anywhere you wanna visit
Be anyone you wanna grow into
As we stand at the crossroads of technological advancement and human evolution, critical thinking becomes more essential than ever. The rapid development of AI, represented as Claude, Gemini, Openclaw, the SOTA generative AI and agent AI platform, presents both unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges.
I believe that the future belongs to those who possesses the capability of critical and proactive thinking about the implications of emerging technologies while maintaining a human-centered approach. We are supposed to ask not only "can we build it?" but also "why we build it?" and "how will it impact society?"
My vision for the future involves creating AI systems that augment human capabilities rather than replace them completely, developing sustainable technologies to solve humanity's greatest challenges. Forward thinking is the foundation upon which we can build a better future for all. I'm centering on the following questions:
What's the relation between human being and AI agents?
What's the urgent demand and need of human in several years?
How could AI agents impact human by decentralization in the future?
While reflecting on these thoughts, I hope the future will be predictable to some extent for its quantitative and qualitative development.
